The Amateur Gourmet had a bad experience at Le Cirque that he recounted on his blog and got a lovely letter of apology from Sirio Maccioni; I had a bad experience at Havana '59 published in Style and got an email asserting that I didn't know anything about service (remember, I gave them a glowing, enthusiastic review regarding their food). Maybe the management of Havana could learn a few things from a real professional.

I had a similar experience with a recipe from Martha Stewart's magazine several years ago. I followed the recipe for this f layer birthday cake but the icing didn't come out right. I tried the icing again with the same bad results (it wouldn't set up). I e-mailed the magazine asking them if there could be a misprint or error in the recipe. A few days later I get a response from them basically telling me that I don't know how to cook and that theire recipes are correct. I steamed over that for about two weeks until I saw Martha on the Today show making that same cake recipe. And lo and behold, she made the icing differently from the one printed in the magazine! HA! I knew it. Ever since, I've not been a big fan of hers.
