17th St. Farmers' Market The bounty of the summer has arrived, and the market, despite the heat, was overflowing with produce and customers. At Amy's Garden, you could find Zephyr bicolor squash, heirloom tomatoes (of course), stripy Asian eggplant, red Lipstick peppers, cucumbers, Asian melons and tiny, sweet Heart of Gold melons. Mike Wiblin brought his incomparable sweet white corn along with his own peppers, cukes and tomatoes. A new stall of peaches, however, both yellow and white, were the most exciting addition to the market and are at their peak right this very minute. Just to remind you how chin-drippingly good these fruit can be, here's a link to a recipe for the best peach cobbler you've ever tasted. If I haven't gotten down there before you, there should be enough peaches left next week to satisfy all of your summer cravings.
